News and Announcements

With their win on Sunday (8 November) against the PSC Pride, 2-0, the Real Force have achieved a perfect 9-0-0 record this fall in WAGS. This is an unusual accomplishment in any division of WAGS, given the high level of competition throughout the League. Kudos to the girls!

Thanks to all the people who made this great season possible—they are too numerous to list here. Special thanks to Coach Emeritus Gilberto for all the dedication and hard work over the years, and to Coach Hai for a superb job leading the team this season!

Final week of the regular season ahead...

The girls played well in less than perfect conditions on Sunday. Lots of nice passing was on display in the 7-0 win over the Chantilly Inferno. Belle passed the ball to Lizzy to get the scoring going and then Alysia placed a beautiful direct kick in the back of the net, 2-0. Lizzy and Nicole combined for a couple of goals in the second half and Alisa finished off the scoring with a ‘brace’ on passes from Belle and Lizzy. Final 7-0. Defense played superbly and Caitlyn earned her 5th clean sheet in 7 WAGS games.

This week the team has normal practices on Tuesday and Thursday. All the coaches were in attendance on Sunday and got a good look at what the girls need to work on in these last few sessions of the regular season.

Next weekend the WAGS season wraps up with 2 games, Saturday at Nike (noon) and Sunday at Lake Fairfax (2 PM).

The 7 day weather forecast is clear, with temps in the mid 50s- low 60s. Looks like great soccer weather ahead…

Sunday's game has been relocated...

…from Nike to Lake Fairfax #4. There is some rain in the forecast for Sunday but holding the game on turf means it will likely be played, rain or shine. Also, I see the high on Sunday is only going to be in the low 50s so have your daughter dress accordingly.

Finally, be sure to turn your clocks back on Saturday (Halloween) night.

Go Real Force!

Busy soccer weekend...

Thanks to everyone for having flexible schedules on Saturday for our President’s Cup game vs the CYA Chaos. The weather held up (barely) and the Real Force played well against a D2-bound team. The score was 0-0 for most of the match until a couple of late goals against our tired girls sealed the game. Playing with only one sub throughout meant most players played most of the game. Kudos to the girls for their strong performance, especially the defensive line and Rachel in goal! This outcome brought the team’s record 12 game winning streak to an end, during which the Real Force scored 32 goals while only giving up 4. All streaks have to end sometime and the girls played well Saturday despite the final result.

Sunday’s game against a weaker opponent was not pretty but restarted a new winning streak. Goals by Belle (left foot on a pass from Lizzy), Megan (from Mariel) and Nicole (1 touch on Mariel’s cross) in the second half broke open the game after Lizzy got 2 in the first half (one from Mariel).

With 3 games left in the WAGS season the Real Force are in good position to finish strong, with no one injured. I am pleased to report that Sofia’s grandfather says she is feeling better now after being sick for several days.

Regular practices this week and then a home game against the Chantilly Inferno on Sunday, the day after Halloween.

Winter soccer plans are taking shape. Expect more information on those shortly.

Go Real Force!
